Two additions this time — one that connects Engaggit to your AI tools, and one that makes your feed easier to work with.
Built-In MCP Server
Engaggit now ships with a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. If you use Claude Desktop, Cursor, or OpenCode, you can now search Reddit and read post content directly from your AI client — powered by Engaggit's searchers.
The server exposes two tools:
| Tool | What It Does |
|---|---|
search-reddit |
Search Reddit for posts matching a query, with optional subreddit, time range, and result limit |
get-post-content |
Fetch the full content of a Reddit post by URL |
To get started, go to Settings → MCP Server (or click the MCP button in the app header) and click Start server. The server listens at http://127.0.0.1:4350/mcp by default — point your AI client at that endpoint and you're connected.
It's disabled by default and only listens on localhost, so it won't affect anything unless you turn it on. If you've already configured Reddit credentials in Engaggit, the MCP server reuses them automatically — no extra setup needed.
Feed Sort Options
Your feed now has a sort dropdown in the header, right next to the sentiment filter. Three options:
| Sort Order | What You Get |
|---|---|
| By score (default) | Highest AI relevance score first, with newest posts as a tiebreaker |
| By date – recent first | Newest posts at the top |
| By date – oldest first | Oldest posts at the top — useful for catching unanswered threads |
Pick one from the dropdown and the feed reloads automatically. If you're scanning on a tight schedule, sorting by score keeps the best leads front and center. If you're doing a catch-up session, sorting by date helps you find threads you might have missed.
