AI Analysis

Engaggit uses AI to analyze every Reddit post found during a scan. This is what separates it from simple keyword search — AI evaluates the actual content and context of each post.

How AI Analysis Works

Relevance Scoring

For every discovered post, the AI receives:

• The post's title, subreddit, score, and body text
• Your interest's "What I'm looking for" description

The AI rates each post on a 0–10 scale for relevance:

• 8–10: Highly relevant — matches what you described closely
• 5–7: Somewhat relevant — related topic, may be worth reviewing
• 0–4: Not relevant — noise, off-topic, or low value

Only posts scoring above your relevance threshold (default: 6) appear in your feed.

Sentiment Detection

Along with relevance, the AI determines the post's sentiment:

• Positive — the poster is receptive, asking for recommendations, or sharing favorable experiences
• Neutral — informational, discussion-oriented
• Negative — complaints, criticism, or unfavorable mentions

Sentiment labels help you prioritize which posts to engage with. Positive and neutral posts are generally better opportunities.

Reason Explanation

Each match includes a short explanation of why the AI rated it the way it did. This helps you quickly understand the match without reading the entire post.

Draft Generation

For posts that pass the relevance threshold, Engaggit can generate a comment draft — but only if the interest has a "What to show in the draft" description filled in.

How Drafts Work

1. The AI reads the post content and your draft instructions
2. It generates a natural, helpful comment (typically 2–4 paragraphs)
3. The draft is then "humanized" on the frontend to sound more natural

What Makes a Good Draft

Your draft instructions directly affect output quality. Be specific about:

• Tone: casual, professional, technical, friendly
• Content: what points to address, what to mention
• Length: how long the comment should be
• Goal: awareness, helpfulness, subtle promotion, etc.

TIP

You can edit the generated draft before posting. It is a starting point, not a final product.

Adjusting the Relevance Threshold

You can raise or lower the relevance threshold in Settings → AI:

• Higher threshold (e.g., 8): Fewer but more precisely relevant posts
• Lower threshold (e.g., 4): More posts, including borderline matches

The default threshold of 6 works well for most use cases.

Engaggit supports both local AI (Ollama) and cloud-based providers. Local AI keeps your data on your machine but may be slower; cloud providers are faster but send post content to external servers.
