Interests
An Interest is the core concept in Engaggit. It represents a topic or opportunity you want to monitor on Reddit.
Creating an Interest
- Click "Add Interest" in the sidebar.
- Fill in the interest form (see fields below).
- Click Save.
Your new interest appears in the sidebar list and is automatically active for future scans.
Interest Fields
Name
A short, descriptive label for this interest (e.g., "SaaS Tool Mentions", "AI Writing Assistants"). This name appears in the sidebar and as a tag on matched posts.
Search Rules
One or more search rules that define what Reddit posts to look for. Each rule contains keywords, optional subreddit filters, and time range settings. See Search Rules for the full breakdown.
What I'm Looking For
A natural language description of what matters to you. This is the most important field — the AI reads this to decide whether a post is relevant.
Good example:
"I'm looking for people asking for recommendations for project management tools for small teams. I want posts where users are actively seeking solutions, not just sharing opinions."
Bad example:
"project management"
The more specific and descriptive you are, the better the AI can filter and rank results.
What to Show in the Draft
Instructions for the AI when generating a comment draft. Tell it what tone to use, what points to cover, and what kind of response to craft.
Good example:
"Write a helpful, conversational comment suggesting our tool as one option. Mention a specific feature that addresses their need. Keep it under 3 paragraphs. Do not be overly salesy."
Bad example:
"Promote our product"
Editing and Deleting Interests
- Edit: Click the interest name in the sidebar, then click the edit (pencil) icon.
- Delete: Click the edit icon, then choose Delete. You will be asked to confirm.
WARNING
Deleting an interest removes it from the sidebar but does not delete previously scanned posts from your history.
